What is the difference between leadership and management?

Leaders lead and managers manage. Leadership is taking someone somewhere when they do not know how to get there. It is leading people to a better place. Management helps us where we are at. Managing is not taking someone or a group of people to a better place, it is just helping them where they are. I would say that leadership is more vision driven.

Leadership is vision, it helps people get to somewhere new. Management is just keeping an eye on things- glorified babysitting.

Leaders take people to a place that they aren’t there yet. Managers do the things that help people get things done once they have arrived.

Leadership is starting is taking someone to where they need to be. Management is just making sure that we’re doing something in the space that we are already in, not a moving forward mentality

Leadership takes people to new places and management oversees where people are currently at.
