Management tends to be less people focused and more task focused relying on the authority of the person to get things done vs the openness of communication, trust, and empowerment.

Where leadership is taking someone from something they do not know or somewhere they have not been and teaching them how to do that thing or get to that place. Leadership is moving someone from where they are and what they know to another level learning something new and becoming a better rounded person in that particular field.
