“Leadership takes us someplace. Management helps us do what we’re supposed to do while we are in that place.” Leadership is about forward movement. About pursuing a purpose.

Leadership is the act of taking people to a new place or height, whereas management is making sure things are functioning properly to maybe only maintain the status quo.

In the words of Dr. Buzzell, “leadership takes us someplace. Management helps us do what we’re supposed to do while we are in that place.”

Leadership is taking people somewhere that they may not want to particularly go. Management is more about controlling a situation.

Leadership takes us somewhere. Management helps us do what’s expected.
