The universal church is the worldwide church, and the local church is the individual churches which people attend and participate in. The local churches make up the worldwide church, and all should be dedicated to discipling believers, sharing the Gospel, and serving others as a witness to our faith.

The universal church is all comprised of all those who believe in Jesus Christ, the body of Christ. The local church is the local gathering of believers, there are many local churches, who come together to workship, pray and fellowship together.

The local church is a group of people that meet together regularly to worship and fellowship together as well as where a believer places their tithes. The universal church is made up of all believers, no matter where they may physically be.

The difference between the universal church and local church is simple. The universal church refers to the church at large as a whole. It encompasses the entirety of believers of Christ…past, present, and future. A local church refers to a much smaller body also made up of individual believers. There are many local churches. They are what we think of as the “churches” most often, the brick and mortar individualized groups that fall into denominational categories.

The universal church is a Baptist church which is similar to the Catholic church and believes that the Messiah Jesus Christ has come and forgiven us for our sins. The Local church provides the church and its members with examples of spiritual maturity and Christlikeness.
