The universal church is comprised by faithful believers from the present, the past, and the future who follow Jesus Christ.
These members may be a collection of believers throughout the entire world.
The local church is a group of believers who live in a community close to one another.

The universal church is all members, past, present and future. The local church is a group of believers, usually within a geographical area who are living. Local churches may have members serving in missions away from the local church.
