The purpose of defending truth is to set the basis for asking others to come to faith in Christ. If there is no truth, then there can be no faith in anything. So, establishing basic truths allows for connections to be made, trust to be built, and for people to come to Christ.

We need to have a firm foundation in our beliefs founded in truth. We must have a reliable ultimate authority founded in truth for our claims.

To be precise that truth is not relative, that denying it does not mean that it does not exist. The word of God is true, the creation is true.

The purpose of defending the truth is a command of GOD. Most importantly God wants us too. Jesus was always pointing his disciples and the religious leaders to the truth. You can’t personally make someone believe differently. It takes power of the Holy Spirit and through the faithfulness of prayer on our part. God wants us to stand up for truth.
