The winter season is the time when the ground water recharges and when the grain fields are plowed and planted and the grain matures in the field and the summer wind helps blow the chaff downward and away from the grain that you will collect.

When it rains they plant or the grain cycle commences. They also collect when it is in abundance, which is during the Winter months.

The early rains soften the dirt so that it can be plowed.
The middle rains wet the dirt where the wheat is planted allowing it to germinate and grow.
The late rains give the wheat the moisture it needs for the grain kernels to mature.

The winter rains mark the beginning of the grain cycle. Grains are plowed and planted from October through March. The grain matures in the field to be harvested in the spring. Without the winter rains, there would be no harvest.
