When it rains they plant or the grain cycle commences. They also collect when it is in abundance, which is during the Winter months.
-
The early rains soften the dirt so that it can be plowed.
The middle rains wet the dirt where the wheat is planted allowing it to germinate and grow.
The late rains give the wheat the moisture it needs for the grain kernels to mature. -
The winter rains mark the beginning of the grain cycle. Grains are plowed and planted from October through March. The grain matures in the field to be harvested in the spring. Without the winter rains, there would be no harvest.

The rainfall only happens during a certain part of the year and that determines when to plant and when to harvest grain.

Grain needs water to be planted and to grow and because it rains in the winter it allows for the grain crop to grow and then to dry out for harvesting in the summer
