What is the significance of Jesus Christ’s claim to be God?

He let it be known, but did not use it to His advantage. He humble Himself and became a servant to all who would believe in Him.

If Jesus was not God than we are praying to Him for nothing but since He is God in the flesh all our prayers should be directed to Him or pray in His name.

There are two aspects to it. First if He was only human, He could only die for His sins, not mine (or others). Second, it disproves the notion He did not claim Deity. If someone teaches that Jesus never claimed Deity, their teaching does not line up with Scripture.

It is massive, everything depends upon the truth of this claim.
