It was important to acknowledge who He was, but it was also important to remain humble and not make His presence about who He was but about what he came to earth to do. Israel was promised a Messiah that would come in representation of Yahweh and redeem them once and for all, that information had to be known. But, to use precious time conversing about His superior level of knowledge and wisdom was not the plan.

The entire message of the New Testament fall on Jesus being God.

Other gods are dead or inanimate. The whole bible hinges on the fact that Jesus is God and it proves it. If Jesus were not God, we would have no hope for the future.

Jesus was here on human form but was God. He performed miracles no human can do. He healed the sick, changed water into wine and raised people from the dead. He did this miracles to point people to his father who sent him. He always said the father sent me to do what he sent me to do.

Jesus is fully capable of showing us who He is through what He does. He had no interest in boasting about His divine nature. I can rest assured that Jesus walked the earth as man, so He completely understands any issues I have and that He is all powerful since He is God.
