What keeps you from being more curious about another person’s reality?

Fear of not knowing what you will uncover or of handling it correctly but if the Holy Spirit is the driver and we follow Him we only need to be concerned with putting ourselves aside and allowing Him to lead.

Not being more curious is probably out of fear of what they are going to share and what I am feeling and thinking and what is inside of me that may come to the surface.

The fear of not being able to handle their reality mentally, physically or spiritually. The reality that I am inadequate in providing the support one may need.

It may be the fear of not knowing how to deal with what the person reveals. It may also be part of the Asian culture to be a bit more conservative, polite, subtle, and not in-your-face when you interact with people.

I didn’t fully understand this before now, but I believe I have not been as curious as I should be for two reasons:
1. I am afraid of what I might discover and know that I am not able to help
2. I am afraid the other person may want to look into my interior and I not want to share
I now understand this to be my own feelings of inadequacy, which is ok and necessary to feel so I can fully submit to and depend on God.
