Our seniors go on a missions trip every year. Our students have service hours. The students grow when they are helping others.

Students participate through the school in community projects such as helping at a local food distribution truck and taking on service projects such as clothing drives. Individuals who have gone on mission trips to other countries have returned with changed perspectives on their own lives and attitudes toward their life and the people and circumstances around them.

My students participate in community food and clothing drives, and food distribution trucks for local mission organizations.

Each homeroom and/or grade level have assigned missions such as food drive, coat drive, toy drive, OCC shoeboxes, cards for military, sponsor a home in Guatemala, light construction work in the NC mountains, etc.
I thinkt he impact is more significant when they are involved in a hands-on, personal way.

Right away I thought of the Christian Preschool I used to be the director of. We did a project called Soles for Souls. The students collected shoes for this organization that provided good gently used shoes for those in need. It was great to do this at a PreK and Preschool level because if you are a parent or know someone with young children, they grow out of shoes so quickly. Once we had all the donations, we had students help us line up the donations on the school property. What an amazing sight to see hundreds of pairs of shoes line the property and the children looking around in awe at their accomplishment. Their accomplishment was also recognized by the local community newspaper, who came to interview us. I remember thinking what better way for these young students to really see the fruit of their labor and how their ministry really went beyond what we had imagined. Wow, I miss those times.
