My 5th grade students have been part of helping the Do More Foundation, Serve-a-Thon, and some other serving opportunities. These bring to their attention how much help is needed around them. I often start the day by reminding them of all the blessings God has given us, and how we take those for granted sometimes.

Our students go on a mission trip their senior year. We also have one day a year that we serve the community as an entire school. The students really enjoy these activities and it gives them a love for others and a desire to serve outside the school.

My students have made prayer blankets for the elderly in our church who are homebound. We made the blankets and spent time praying for each recipient and then delivered them. We also created Christmas gifts for families that were close to our school. Students delivered them the Sunday before Christmas and it was a great opportunity to serve our community and share God’s love with them. The students enjoyed thinking about others who were in need, as well as working together to make the items.

We have two families of missionaries with children and we focus on supporting the children in those families as a course. We also visit the local nursing home when COvid policies arnt messing that up.
