Our students have the opportunity to serve in a local missions capacity as well as on a global stage. We currently take one global trip each year, but I would love to see that grow to be able to visit multiple locations.

The school offers the opportunity to participate in the show box ministry. Classes have done food drives for local shelters. I think these things have little potential to influence the students because they didn’t see the impact on the receiver’s end.
A high schooler raised funds to go to Costa Rica. He plans to return again this coming year.

In the past, my students have been involved in the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. We have also written cards to active military men and woman and sent the overseas. On the national day of prayer, we wrote prayers for our president and sent them to the White House. We actually got a letter back from the president! Recently, my co-teacher and I put a name on the white board of a Jewish woman we found on a list of the hostages currently being held captive in the Israel/Hamas war. As a course we have been praying for her regularly.
Each of these acts of service bring more awareness to the students about the world around them, potentially makes them more grateful for their circumstances, and shows them how much the world needs Jesus. I pray that it also builds empathy within them for others, and teaches the kids to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever they go.

Our Lower School students put together Operation Christmas Child boxes each year. We have a large food drive in the fall. Students and families make Christmas cards for residents of local nursing homes. Our HS students participate in Go Week the first week in January. Several trips are planned — local, domestic and international. I’ve seen kids come back totally changed. They have a different view of self and others. They are less entitled. Some become mission focused. It’s amazing!
