What might be the benefits of studying religious faiths different from your own?

To know what other beliefs and what their heart desires will help to pray for others in finding our one true God.

Since we have a global community these days, I will be exposed to those other religions and it will be helpful to under the differences between what they believe and how I can share what I believe with them.

Fear comes from a lack of understanding; we fear what we don’t know. I believe strongly that learning about other world faiths provides us a better understanding of others. I may not always agree with another’s faith but I have to respect their ideals and understandings, as I would expect them to respect mine. As I have come to know and work with other individuals around the world, I find that I enjoy learning about our differences and similarities. Conversations about faith can be stressful and cause confrontation unless they are taken in the light of learning and communication.

The benefits of studying religious faiths different from mine help me to know what are the common grounds of our faiths. In that way, we can gain audience of people who are from other faiths. It helps be to know the worldviews of people from other faiths. Knowing other faiths can help me to understand their terminologies of their faith. Awareness of other faiths helps me to be sensitive in communicating my faith.
