What new insights about the importance of prayer did you gather from this lesson?

The reminder that prayer is important because of the unsearchable things I do not know. I love the phrase from Isaiah ‘Because you prayed’ – another reminder to being everything before God and not as afterthought.

what stood out to me was that even in the midst of my distress and alarm, my heavenly Father is right there in the midst of the mess with me, and He is waiting on me to accept His invitation to call to Him, so that He can show me great and unsearchable things that at that moment I do not know. this is cause for a level of confidence and comfort like never before. He has the answers that I need!

I gleaned that God intentionally makes His children the focus of His full attention when we pray to Him. Personally, it means that He is engaged and interested in what I have to say. It’s as if I was the only one in His throne room. (Psalm 116:1-2)
Another insight is that the Lord of the universe actually wants to share some of His secrets with His people. He invites us to pray. And, He further cultivates the habit of communing with Him in us by answering. He then rewards the habit by sharing great and hidden knowledge with us! Who in their right mind can withstand such a compelling invitation from God?

Prayer is a powerful action that connects us to God. God wants us to pray continually and even bends down to hear us; that is how precious our prayers are to God. Prayer is about our relationship with our Heavenly Father, seeking his face. Prayer is something we get to do, a privilege, as opposed to something we have to do, an obligation.

God expects us to pray; wants us to pray because He wants a relationship-a back & forth-with us. He listens and He speaks to us in groups and individually. When we engage with God in prayer, He shares himself and reveals deep treasures for the soul. In prayer we have opportunities to praise the Holy Trinity; to give thanks; to confess-coming to agreement with God about our sins; to intercede for others; to seek help for ourselves. Wow…so basically, the God of the everything that ever was and is and ever will be wants to hang out with me.
