Overall, that when convicted by the Holy Spirit of our sins and need of salvation, we can cry out to a loving and forgiving Savior. He atoned for our sins by the shedding of his blood and through faith and obedience, He saves us. Not because of our performance, but because of His Grace. While we were yet sinners…..

I loved the statement “Just as appetite is a sign of health for a baby, an appetite for the things of God is a sign of spiritual health.” It is a good barometer to measure if we are connected and in fellowship with the Holy Spirit or have become distracted by the world.

I am reminded that the spiritual concepts in this lesson must be a priority over all else in our lives. When we come to have a more complete knowledge of Christ through His word, prayer, and fellowship it becomes part of us. Our spirit man becomes stronger and the world and its ways become less appealing. Just as Nicodemus came to understand Jesus by night in his time on the earth, so we must experience Him in our lives and spread that Good News to those we encounter.

I know all my “righteousness” amounts to nothing but filth. I know Christ covers me as I surrender to Him and I am clothed in His righteousness.

Isaiah 53:6: We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Jesus Christ has taken the sins of every human being born and yet to be born. This is something mystical and beyond human understanding. The truth and insights from this verse clearly states that our sins were borne by Jesus. It is rightly stated by Paul in Romans 3:23, that “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. This states that we as sinners cannot save ourselves and hence Jesus had to take up the shame for us.
Isaiah 64:6 “Our righteous acts are like filthy rags”. We a humans compare our righteousness with the righteousness of others and consider us as self-righteous. But we must realise that we must compare ourselves with Gods standards of perfection and that we cannot pleas God by our self-efforts. The importance of Jesus paying the price for us and the Holy Spirit guiding and leading us in every aspect of our lives is integral to our existence as Christians and believers on this earth.
These Bible verses are help us to gain more insight to the gospel. -
I connected with the graphic shown early in the lesson which depicted the 4 areas outlining the Bible. The creation, fall, redemption and restoration are a simple way to express the grand narrative. Yet, there is so much going on from Genesis to Acts that surely people can find stories of others to relate with themselves somewhere along this journey.
It is encouraging that the bulk of the Scriptures relate to our redemption.
