Feeling unworthy was the biggest obstacle that I had to overcome when praying. Before I turned my life over to God and started spending time in the Word I would feel that I was not worthy to pray to God. After repenting my sin and actually talking to God asking for forgiveness did I see that God has forgiven my sins and made me new.

That is so great, I hate when I have to witness someone confess not feeling worthy of God’s love. He is loving us right now by allowing us to take this course together. Good Luck.

I have a few stumbling blocks in my prayer life; I experience a lot of confusion the role prayer plays in God’s plan. Like the professor mentioned, unanswered prayers play heavy on my thoughts sometimes. For instance, if I pray for someone’s health, but it is the Lord’s plan that someone should be sick, then what is the point of my prayer? Is it meaningless? I find questions like that sometimes weaken my fervency or dedication to prayer. Sometimes I feel as if I pray strictly because it is commanded of me.

Another obstacle I run into is highlighted perfectly by the C.S. Lewis quote presented by the professor; I often times feel that my mind jumps to the temporal and not so important demands of this world: kids to take care of, what to expect at work, etc. I need to be better at focusing my mind on the eternal God I worship; Aligning my thoughts and focuses with the Lord I serve.

I’m always in the rush and my mind tends to fix on the daily task. It just hinder me to really quiet down and pray. To me, the times seems to be not enough for me to sit down and pray. I will definitely focus on the things that I would like to accomplished and it will just slip out of my mind and heart because of the worldly things that I’m pursuing daily.

It’s preventing my mind to wander and I find that praying Scriptures help me to focus, to avoid repetitions.
