What obstacle do you struggle with when it comes to prayer? What helps you overcome that obstacle?

My biggest obstacle to prayer is always being surrounded by other people and never really having any time to be alone. People bring their own attitudes and issues into my space with every interaction and sometimes, I confess, it infects me. In order to overcome this, I have practiced being in a constant meditative prayer state with Jesus. The minute I open my eyes in the morning, I’m talking with God, expressing my gratitude and eagerness to walk in the path He has laid out for me that day and I continue to surrender every thought until I am laying down to go to bed. By constantly being connected and communicating with the Lord in all things throughout my entire day I am able to have the strong prayer life that I need.

The main obstacles to prayer in my life is being too busy. I find myself being occupied with something all the time which limits my time in prayer. One thing that helps me overcome this obstacle is routine. I pray when driving and before I go to sleep, no matter how late it is or how tired I am.

One of the biggest obstacles I run into is being too busy! I serve on staff at my church, and also the facilities director! This takes a lot of my time. I am now trying to overcome this by simply finding the time alone like getting up earlier in the mornings to have my God time in prayer. And utilizing my time doing things to give me brakes throughout the day to have prayer time that is needed.

My biggest personal obstacle to prayer is staying busy, especially mentally. I have a very hard time not letting my mind wander with things that come up during prayer. I ask forgiveness when it comes up, and often will start new prayers regarding the new thought, but I’ve never thought to write down those thoughts. I also like the suggestion of bringing a prayer journal with me to keep me on track. I have noticed I have an easier time keeping focus when I make the effort to separate myself from anyone/anything else.

The biggest obstacle I had was allowing the problems of everyday life to pour in and break my focus. I would ask God to take those thoughts away and re-focus my attention back to my prayer time with God.
