What practices do you currently use in your classroom to help your students learn concepts on a deeper level? Do you feel these are effective? Why or why not?

I try to send students to the boards to work out Math problems as much as possible. I can then stand by and walk them through step by step as they go. I also find allowing students to work in pairs is helpful for the process. Word problems and real life circumstances allow students to apply the deeper level of understanding that they have acquired with builds confidence. I believe these tools are effective. I include bonus questions on quizzes and tests that require students to attempt a variation they have not seen before. Most students will try the bonus, and many succeed!

I need to get better at practicing Biblical integration into math. I have a hard time seeing God in math. I would love to see what everyone one else may do.

Some of the practices I use in my classroom is using as many senses the students can in order to learn. writing the concept, sharing the concept verbally with students, listening to students say the concept and sharing with teacher the concept learned.

The practices I use to offer students an opportunity for students to learn at a deeper level include: design challenges, analytical exercises, dramatizations, and reflections. Focusing on quality learning experiences offers students engaging and effective learning opportunities.
