We have discussions about current events and what the Bible says about those situations. I ask them what would Jesus do and to give a scriptures or a Bible story to back it up. This is effective because it gets the students to study and research the Bible and go in depth with the Word.

In order to make students learn concepts at a deeper level, I make them apply the information to their own lives. I also will ask them to explain back to me what the concept is. I do feel this is effective. The more the student has to apply the concepts to things that are close to them or have to teach it to another, the more they internalize the concepts and understand their true meaning.

In the past I have given students extensions to the topics that are taught or higher leveled questions that allows them to think deeper. Also, they can research a topic beyond what is being taught for that lesson and then report on their findings.

To help my students to learn concepts at deeper level I share stories of my life and connection of their experiences and personal life
so we can compare and contrast not just stories but different ways of living and thinking by respecting morals and the word of God. -
One of the practices that I use in my classroom to help my students learn concepts on a deeper level is by connecting the content I teach to their personal life. For example, my final exam for my chemistry students was to research and present on the chemistry of a subject of their choosing. This allowed them to choose one of their passions areas and learn about it on a deeper level.
