Haha, have I got a story for you! When I was in a treatment center for alcoholism, we had to make a 10 year goal plan. As a joke I put down be a pilot for the 10 year slot. I didn’t think anything more of it until 9 years later. My boys were doing goal planning in school and asked if I ever had to do one. I told them I was supposed to be a pilot by the end of the year. The next day, I’m reading the newspaper and my son walks by and taps the page and says, “Look Mom. flying lessons.” I called and decided as a single Mom, I’d never be able to afford that. The next day I was at my Mom’s church and saw a flyer for MAF, Missionary Aviation Fellowship, and told God if He was paying for it, I’d be a missionary pilot for Him, and I started taking lessons. About a year into it, something happened and I questioned if I could discern God’s will, and I quit flying. 6 months went by, and I was at a prayer meeting out in the portable and they prayed that God would make it abundantly clear if this was something I was supposed to do. After the meeting I went into the church to clean, and there on the mirror was a sticker that said, “Hello, Missionary”. I started flying again. This past October, I did my first missionary flight in Haiti transporting a 2 year old to the city for a blood transfusion. My profile pic is me with the plane and my HFAM hat after that first flight.

your experience is really speaking to me. thank you for sharing this. I am going to pray for you even now: Heavenly Father, thank you for the plans and purpose you have for this person, and how you fulfill them in your special way and timing. I am asking that you will use this person powerfully for Your glory, that You will protect and provide and keep this person on each mission flight. Thanks You father, I ask all these requests in Jesus’ name.

United prayer creates strong ties with other Christians; It cuts through the natural barriers that life places in the way of building relationships and emphasizes the point that we all accept, serve, and appeal the same mighty God. I have seen unified prayer be a means of creating authentic, and caring, relationships among believers. It is popular for people to say now, “nobody cares until they know how much you care,” well I find that to be somewhat true with prayer – When someone is praying on your behalf, out of concern/hope for you, how can you not in turn feel an appreciation toward them, and the God that you both serve?
