What standards exist in your school?

When I worked in the D.O.E. the standards were Common Core.

The mission of the school I teach at is to be a Christ-centered that inspires academic excellence, servant leadership, and enduring relationships. To achieve academic excellence, the school follows the CA state standards for content and follows minimum requirements of the UC and CS college systems for graduation. As mentioned in the lecture regarding Christian schools, Bible is also a requirement for each year, as is a week of service for every year in attendance.

For the most part, the only standards for academics that I knew of were the ones in the curriculum teacher editions. I never heard or saw any discussion otherwise. Since I came from public school, and saw all teachers and myself working from state standards, I would check back and forth to see “where we were” in terms of keeping up with public schools. It seemed we were not keeping up, but were far behind. Maybe my mindset was backwards, but I could see a clear difference. Some explained it by saying that many students came to our school from the public schools because they were struggling. And, they came with tuition paid by the state because the public school from which they came was in a failing status itself.

We have to meet state educational standards, as well as Christian worldview standards, where we integrate biblical instruction into the lessons as well.
