Improving awareness of Christians suffering persecution in other parts of the world requires a multifaceted approach. Here are several steps you can take:

    a) Follow news reports and advocacy organizations covering religious freedom and persecution issues. This can help you stay informed about Christians’ challenges in different regions.

    b) Support ministries and charities that provide aid, shelter, legal assistance, or other support to Christians living under persecution. Researching reputable organizations in this space can help direct your donations or volunteering efforts.

    c) Engage with your local church community to learn how they connect to or support Christians globally. They may have partnerships or initiatives you could get involved with.

    d) Commit to regular prayer for the persecuted church around the world. Many Christian organizations provide prayer guides or suggestions for lifting those brothers and sisters in Christ.

Developing compassion for those who oppose Christianity is crucial because it fosters understanding and empathy, even in disagreement. It enables open and respectful dialogue, promotes tolerance of diverse beliefs, and helps cultivate a more peaceful and harmonious society. Additionally, showing compassion reflects core Christian values like love, forgiveness, and understanding. Most importantly, the one who opposes Christianity may become one of our more vigorous supporters later because of God’s love.

I attend the speaking engagements of missionaries in our local communities who have returned from the field for a short amount of time before returning back to their various mission fields. I also receive their newsletters sent to their home church communities. These missionaries also share the news from other missionaries they are in contact with. I, additionally, follow other modalities of communication offered. We must have compassion for those who oppose Christianity. We never know when their hearts my change. Remember Saul who later became Paul! They are still God’s children and He desires all to be saved. Also, I have compassion for their souls if they do not accept Christ.

There are many different publications serving the purpose of exposing abuse of Christians all over the world, even ODB may have some publications of such. The goal is to become more involved in the ministry work. Through writing letters and using the internet to email back and forth to global outreach networks all over the world, personal relationships can develop. Also, we can start with a subscription of the Our Daily Bread monthly devotional publication and from there search the internet for other Christians out there who would love to hear from us. Just by acknowledging each other and showing concern for every life, we can add tremendously to the faith.

The steps I take are simple, I keep i n touch with the missionaries I know, i review the monthly “Voice of the Martyr’s” magazine, and I pray. We are all of one body in the church, the Body of Christ. How can I not have compassion on a member of the family of God.
