I find that the most pushback I get is that people do go to hell and it is very real. I think most people believe because they do a few good things on this Earth that God will see those good things and won’t withdraw His Presence. Then to fully understand and trust in grace and that we need to receive the gift of salvation is hard for people, because we live in such a “works” based culture.

I think least compelling is the idea that moral and ethical law are defined by Creator, not the individual. There is distinct distaste in the idea of a “distant Judge”. We want purpose, but with purpose comes accountability, and with accountability comes discipline, consequence, and reward. I can understand the distaste, but I think that as we grow to understand Creator we find exactly how loving that moral and ethical law is. We see how protective it is. We see how much it is actually FOR us, for our benefit, growth, and reward.

I think the least compelling piece of Christianity is where we place our identity. People want to have control over their own life and have at least some say in who they are. If I went up to a non-Christian and told them their identity needs to be placed in Jesus and pursue who HE says they are, I don’t think that conversation would last very long. I would respond to objections by relating identity to the joy behind feeling no pressure to be who someone else expects me to be. There are so many studies out there backing up the Bible and who it says people are and how they should live. I would like to have a few of those ready to respond to objections. Non-Christians around me believe in science and facts, so if I pull out a scientific, peer-reviewed study, they can’t really argue back.

God is our Creator of the universe. He sent his son to die for us. Our eternal home is in Jesus.
(Either God is or God isn’t)

The biblical worldview of origins means nothing to my friends. I would talk with them about my testimony of receiving Christ and just how my life has changed here but also when I die. Why Christ purchased me and my friends will be something I’d talk with them about.
