Before experiencing love & forgiveness, the idea of following the system of rules that often go against culture is a real problem. We need to see our own sinfulness before understand God’s laid out guidelines GIVE us freedom rather than take it away.

I think the idea of biblical ethics would be least compelling to those who do not have a relationship with the one who established those ethics. For those of us who believe it to be true, it’s much easier to embrace. But for those who do not hold to Christianity, or a monotheistic worldview. Having someone else tell them what’s right and wrong would seem far too narrow.

Having a Creator who loves us all and wants relationship with us all but still allows the nastiness in this world. I know most people who tend to have an issue with the biblical worldview is bc they see all this negative stuff our world has to offer and cannot understand why an all-powerful creator would allow these monstrosities to continue to happen. They do not understand and most do not want to understand that all of it happens for our benefit, for our own free will, for our own growth and so we can learn to lean in and trust.

My non-Christian friends see their pleasure as the highest purpose in their lives. God says to give up your life and follow Him. This is contrary to their thinking though their own thinking brings about more pain and suffering in their lives.
