Do you find exegesis and hermeneutics to be equally challenging tasks or is one easier than the other? If one is easier, which one is it? Why do you think that’s the case?

I find that exegesis is more labor intensive as it causes you to peel back the layers of the written word for understanding it’s original purpose and meaning. Hermeneutics cannot be applied until the research is done through the process of exegesis before application to modern times.

I believe exegesis to be somewhat easier since its in the moment. We are interpreting a historical text that needs to be done before the hermeneutics interpretation. Determining the text for application in today’s world may lead to seeing something that’s not really in the text.

I think exegesis is easier because you have everything in front of you with which to mine from. In Hermeneutics I think it runs the risk of being subjective if done without prayer and the interpreter may not be aware of biases and the such that can skew the modern interpretation.

I think both of them will be equally challenging. Exegesis is difficult because interpreting a message according to what was meant in a different historical period could be tricky. Hermeneutics is difficult because sometimes it is difficult to relate something from a different time period to what is going on today.

I think they are equally challenging. Exegesis will be difficult because there is a lot of room to miss important details if I don’t take the time to do my research completely. Hermeneutics because there will need to have a personal application and I lack the self-discipline and accountability to implement and maintain those changes.
