Monotheism and Naturalism
From these two very general worldviews, we have either the fact that there is a creator or we have the naturalist view that it somehow arbitrarily came into existence. With the overall earth having a large population that would claim to be monotheistic, this would have a large influence on what people believe in terms of their origin.
The naturalist view has unfortunately gained popularity since the 1800’s with its views of the origin of the world.

Monotheism includes Christianity, Judaism and Islam. According to a google search, this makes up 55% of the world population. Since I am a Christian living in a rural conservative and primarily Christian community, I am exposed to a lot of people who believe God created us and life has meaning because of that.
When I look beyond my Christian community at how many people live their lives, whether they know it or identify with it or not, they are living a nihilistic and/or existentialistic worldview because they are just doing whatever they think is right for themselves, with no standard for truth or morals and no reverence for a creator that made them for a purpose.

I believe, in America, the two most influential worldviews explaining origin are Monotheism and also Naturalism. I think that many believe in being created by a diety or intelligent creator but many oppose that with the seemingly contradictory theory of Evolution from Naturalism. People like the control, comfort and peace that comes from having rational answers for difficult questions, like what they can receive from Evolution. I also think that Diesm is very popular as well. Many American Christians, myself included, sometimes operate, even unknowingly, like Diests. We can treat God like a “clock maker” and doubt His involvement in our lives.

Monotheism/theism and Naturalism are most influential worldviews today in explaining origins. I believe, from my limited experience, that most of the world fall into a belief that we were created by God or we evolved from matter and there is no God.
