People want to skip ahead to read the end of the story. It is meant to be a bit confusing, in my opinion, so that we don’t get to wrapped up into it. We can see where to go and where not to go in regard to living and worshiping our Lord.

People want to know what to expect and the book of Revelation seems like it could help with that but the genre of literature it is doesn’t serve that purpose. The value in studying it is to hear the warnings back then to the church and heed those warnings today as well as be able to assess where are the cultural idols of our day and age that we need to push back against just like there were ones during the time that Revelation was written to followers of Jesus.

It has a great deal of prophecy but it is also connected to the old testament. It tells of what is to come in the future which is often very complicated because it is woven with a lot of visions and references to OT

It is flashy and it has been popularized in today’s culture and movies, it is very metaphorical and those metaphors and pictures can create a lot of confusion. It shares with the followers of Christ under the Roman rule that Christ is bigger and that He is in the midst of His church. He knows what is going on and that there is a plan to restore all things.

The appeal of the book of Revelation lies in the fact that it presents a clear picture of the current state of the churches and the future Revelation for the events to come. This makes us know and adjust our lives according to God’s will
