Why are people drawn to the book of Revelation and confused by it? What might be the value in studying it?

People are drawn because they want to know how it will end but there is so much imagery that it can get confusing. The value of studying it would be to see the glory of God revealed and be assured of our hope as believers.

I think we are drawn to it because it reveals our fate, the fate of Christians, non-Christians, the entire world. We’re confused by it because of some of the wording, things that don’t make sense to us now because we haven’t seen anything close to that in our lifetime. It’s a great thing to study Revelation though, first because of the blessing promised to those who read it and keep it, and also because knowing what is to come is great inspiration to live our lives today according to God’s word, knowing what the reward will be if we do, and what the consequences will be if we don’t.

It holds the key to what’s coming but it’s written using apocalyptic writings.

Drawn to Revelation because it tells them about the future. Confused because it speaks in dream images and metaphors. The value of studying it is to prepare us for end times, signs to look for, and what to expect.

Because it is fantastical and much different than the rest of the Bible (apart from Ezekiel). ALL of scripture is God-breathed and profitable (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
