I think it is because the rest of the Bible is drawing on historical stories and revelations is a book of predictions.

Much of Revelation is written in figurative language and can be hard to read and understand. The content is magnificent but can be terrifying to many. I do believe it is valuable to find a theologian that can break down the book of Revelation and help the lay person understand piece by piece. I have found in my own life I need to review Revelation periodically. I always learn something new.

People are drawn to this book because they want to the future. They ask what will happen? Will Christ come soon? When are these events taking place? The symbolism and timing can be confusing. It seems vague and the timing isn’t chronological. We can learn so much from the book of Revelation. First, we learn how to live for Jesus. This book teaches us to place Jesus our first love, be useful to Jesus, and to not be deceived or compromise our faith. Second, we learn what Heaven will look like for us. It gives us hope for the future. And third, it helps us to live in a state of preparedness. We may not understand the symbols or timing, but we can be prepared for these events. There is a special blessing in studying this book.

People are drawn to what comes next in life. We are confused by it because of the imagery, possible metaphors, confusing language. The value in studying it is to know what comes next, and have peace with that, instead of worrying and trying to look for the signs it’s upon us.
