Why are people drawn to the book of Revelation and confused by it? What might be the value in studying it?

Many are drawn to the book of Revelation because it is a prophecy of the end times. And it’s used sometimes to communicate the wrath of God when we look at the world today. The confusion for some may be that it’s a prophecy and it’s hard to accept if they are not in the word of God or in a covenant relationship with God.

Many are drawn to it because man’s curiosity to know the future is at the back of everyone at mind. Once you have a glimmer of what’s to come the Bible becomes ever so more important. It’s the only book that cavers past present and future which entails the end of the world which should concern everyone.

I see younger generations drawn to the TV series folkstyle image they have of Revelation and I’ve talked with certain people who are drawn to make specific applications between Revelation, Daniel, etc to certain events and political implications happening today. The value in studying it is concrete because it is God’s Word. Additionally, it’s helpful to understand who we’re setting our hope on as we look ahead and how it is helpfully and dangerously applied.

I think many are drawn to it so they can see where in end times we are. The metaphors in it are complex. The value of studying it is so you can recognize truth and be prepared for what is to come.

Many are drawn to the book of Revelation because they want to know how it’s all going to end. People want signs to know if we are living in the end times and if Jesus’ return is near. There are some things that are very clearly defined, but there is also some things that we don’t know. For instance, will current believers be on Earth during the tribulation? We need to study it and learn as much as possible so we can better prepare our hearts for the returning of Christ.
