Christian Learning Center Forums Discussion Forum How would you prioritize the three reasons given in this lesson for studying the Bible for yourself: “It is essential to knowing and loving God;” “It is essential for growing up in God;” and “It is essential to serving God”? What is the basis for how you prioritize them? Are any of the three reasons more or less important for you than the others? Do you have other reasons than these?

Buy knowing and loving God fully and maturing in our faith, we are able to serve God with the right motives out of love for God and others.

First, you need to know God, in order to serve Him. Then you need to grow in God which is linked very closely in serving God. Even a child can serve God as they grow in God. A “child” may serve God in one way, and an “adult” serve in a very different way as they grow in God. .The first reason is to me, the most important, as it is the foundation. If you don’t know and love God, then it may be too easy to say you are serving God, when really what you are doing is following the path you want to follow, not the path God wants you to follow.

Sometimes I though the order doesn’t really matter. Because I knew that God loves me and I love God, and then I wanted to serve God in one of the ways. While I served, I grew up in God, and then I studied more, learned and loved God more. If I have to place them in a order, it’s more like a two-way triangle.

It is essential to know and love God

It is essential to grow in knowledge of God

It is essential to serve God and fulfill advancing my maturity and His Kingdom

One builds on the other. You can’t build with the end goal without the first blocks

    They are equally important

    1. It is essential to knowing God.
    2. It is essential to growing up in God.
    3. It is essential to serving God.

I want to fully know the God who loves me. I believe that is the way to “grow” in Him….Then He can direct me in faithfully serving.
