Christian Learning Center Forums Discussion Forum How would you prioritize the three reasons given in this lesson for studying the Bible for yourself: “It is essential to knowing and loving God;” “It is essential for growing up in God;” and “It is essential to serving God”? What is the basis for how you prioritize them? Are any of the three reasons more or less important for you than the others? Do you have other reasons than these?

I would have to prioritize the exact way they are listed. I believe that knowing and loving God is the most essential because without those, it is nearly impossible to accomplish the other two. All of these are important to me.

Knowing God is the point from which growing up in God and serving Him, take off from.
A knowledge of God will drive you to develop ourselves in Him and then increase our desires towards service in His name

I would order them in the same way listed “It is essential to knowing and loving God;” “It is essential for growing up in God;” and “It is essential to serving God” as it presents what I consider a natural progression. Knowing and loving God will fuel both growth and the ability to effectively serve Him.

My other reason for studying the Bible would be to able to acquire the tools to navigate a world dominated by man’s selfish desires at all levels, even among those who describe themselves as Christians.

Knowing and loving God is, I believe, essential to the other two. The more I know and understand Him the more I want to grow in my understanding and service to Him.

I would say that it essential to know and love God first because if you think about a baby the first thing you do is love them.

Then you start feeding them so that they can grow up.

Once they start growing then they start commanding things from you so that you are essentially serving them.

As we grow in our understanding God wants us to serve him and be his disciples sharing Him with others.

My reason for taking this course as well as other courses is so that I can witness effectively to other people and bring them to the Lord. The only thing better than going to heaven is taking someone with you.
