The Bible doesn’t explicitly say what the devil did, but he deceived himself and wanted to be worshipped as YHWH. He committed many acts of rebellion that resulted in his being cast out of heaven, and the angels who followed in his ways and were deceived were also cast out.

In his current activities, his sole intention is to divert attention, praise, worship away from God.
