I believe Buddhist cope with life’s inevitable pain by thinking more of others than self. Also, surrender is a key part of their faith.

Buddhists believe that the Four Noble Truths make them better by adhering to a philosophy that helps them avoid personal pain. In Buddhism they are able to overlook their dark side, self-centeredness, and pride. They are motivated to work towards good behavior.
