Why do you think geography has been given so little attention by Bible readers?

I think geography has been given so little attention by Bible readers because we focus on the who, what, when and why. Somehow the where just never seemed to be as important…until now.

They are so concerned with the doctrines of the Bible they seldom relate the different places, types of life, ways people made a living, etc.

We tend to read into the text our own experiences of our surroundings, not taking into account either the significance of biblical geographical references or the potential differences compared to our point of view.

Most people want to get the truths of the Bible through straight forward teachings. Even geography as taught in schoolhas little interest for many.

The community of believer has missed the interaction between geography and the stories that took place in the Bible in favor of the application of the stories and not how the geography enhances and sets the stage for the stories. What richness of the Bible we miss when we do this.
