When I first learned that everyone was not Christian it made me feel like someone had a camera on me playing a sick joke. I made up my mind then to keep an opened mind about life and religion. I was in second grade and had no clue what a Muslim was and was very insulted by the God “Allah.” I was maybe thirty years old when I first chanted a Buddhist chant. I was in a very bad state and there was no god for me. Soon after chanting I called a church prayer line in Chicago and asked them to pray for my brother who was doing time in jail, some months later my life started to change, I moved into another apartment, but things fell apart again, I prayed and chanted again. Eventually I found permanent work raised my daughter and put her through college. I could not understand what was happening to me back then and when I think of those days I still cry.
