Why do you think it is important to know more about world religions?

Knowing about world religions helps me to better relate to the world around me. It helps me to understand people better and why they feel the way that they do about certain things. It also enable me to better understand my own religious views. It can help me to find “common ground” with them that may give me the opportunity to share my faith. It also broadens my knowledge base, which is important. Since I love to learn.

To live with our neighbors takes patience, kindness, love, and understanding. The more we understand about who they are the better we can relate and care for them.

By understanding and knowing about various religions, I can be a better witness for Christ. Also, I can be used for God’s glory by helping in disciple making others.

I believe you need to understand where others are coming from. When you don’t take the time to understand a person or a societies belief system you can’t truly understand how to interact respectfully with them. This leads to strife without necessarily meaning to create it. You won’t know what to expect from others and you will find yourself caught off guard by some things they do or say. You can’t go around assuming everyone thinks the same, we don’t have the same world views and it’s mostly because of religious differences.
