Why do you think Jesus indicated that we shouldn’t “broadcast” when we are fasting to others?

If our motivation is wrong, we will desire the admiration of others as we “fast” – our intention is for attention not toward God.
Jesus wants us to focus on God so that our hearts are right and we are truly fasting for the right reasons. -
The purpose of fasting is to draw near to God, not to draw attention to ourselves.
-
Broadcasting to others feeds our pride and makes our fasting displeasing to God. The focus during fasting should be on God, not on myself. So there is no need for others to know I am fasting.

So that we don’t bring the focus on ourselves. Fasting is a way off drawing near to God, not drawing attention to self.

Since fasting is a personal and spiritual action between ourselves and God, there is no place for third parties to be involved unless they themselves are fasting as well.
