Why do you think Jesus indicated that we shouldn’t “broadcast” when we are fasting to others?

When people are married with /without children need to get away from every one to renew them selves. On their anniversary or any time of the year and as many times as they can. Husbands and wives need that time to strengthen their bond. That’s the way fasting should be between God and you not for show but to spend time with Him in prayer it’s a personal thing not a showing thing for personal gain or recognition or any type of notoriety. When you fast in secret God will reward you.

He wants us to fast and pray from our hearts not as a way to lift ourselves up

Because fasting is for me to humble and draw closer to God; not to brag to others to display a “holier-than-thou” mentality.
We are to humble ourselves n seek God; not to elevate ourselves with pride. -
Jesus indicated that we shouldn’t broadcast when we are fasting because it changes the focus from growing closer in our relationship with God to impressing others. God rewards publicly what is done in secret.
