Why do you think Jesus indicated that we shouldn’t “broadcast” when we are fasting to others?

If, you make your fast known to others that is the only recognition you will receive because doesn’t reward pride.

So, my focus remains on God and not others. It is for Him that I fast. Others, can’t provide what I really need; only God can.

So we don’t turn something that was meant to focus our attention on God into a spectacle with the attention on ourselves.

As with anything else we do to strengthen our relationship with God, it is only necessary for God to know what is in our hearts, not for others to see what we are doing.
