Fast is part of a relationship between you and God, that draws you close to Him.

because what God sees in private He will reward. If we let others know we are fasting we will have already received our reward, and it is not one from God.

What we do in secret God rewards openly like when we pray in secret.

This is because it is not hey look at me , it is a humble experience between you and God.

The time of fasting and prayer is supposed to connect us to God in an intimate way. It is not to be used a a way to “stand out” before others because we want to be noticed for our “spirituality”
