Why do you think Jesus indicated that we shouldn’t “broadcast” when we are fasting to others?

Being public when fasting makes us more inclined to boast about ourselves, and seek the admiration of others rather than seeking God for ourselves.
-
It is a personal act between us and the Lord. It shouldn’t be a way of bringing attention to ourselves.

Time fasted is consecrated time or time set apart for God and is not a time to be shouted out to the world.

We shouldn’t broadcast our fasting because the praise of men will be the only reward. We want God’s reward and direction. Clean ourselves up and be private and classy about our fasts.

When you share about your fasting, the only reward you receive is the recognition from people, not from God. Fasting, like prayer, is a personal matter between the believer and God. Showing off your fasting to others may get you praise from people, but God should be the focus, not seeking recognition from others.
