Why do you think Jesus indicated that we shouldn’t “broadcast” when we are fasting to others?

It isn’t about what we are doing or wanting to appear super spiritual, but a time to cry out and seek Him.

Jesus said that our Father honors what is done in secret. If we are trying to spent specific time with God we should not be doing it with the intention of trying to win the approval of others. It´s no longer about your wanting to honor God but to just get the glory from others.

Because it is a matter of the heart. Our focus should be on Him and not what others think of our perceived righteousness.

Everyone will fast differently and it is not everyone’s business to know. I think majority of it is, people trying to talk you out of fasting. I fasted for diets for 16 hours straight and then would eat up to a certain point of time. I lost weight. People asked, I told them. They frowned because they thing you are “starving” yourself. No I was resetting myself and getting my cravings under control
