Why do you think Jesus indicated that we shouldn’t “broadcast” when we are fasting to others?

Because our fasting is unto God and not man.

Because it is not about us, but about coming closer to God.

It is prideful. We are putting the focus on us instead of on God.

Our intention in fasting should be to honor and seek the Lord. There is no need for others to know about this and should only be between the person and the Lord.

Because this act of faith should be done discretely. Fasting develops a more personal and intimate relationship as well as it builds character.
