You don’t understand why. I had this feeling when my son became estranged from me. I thought I had done it right and introduced him to God. And I didn’t understand why this would happen.

The person is overly attached or dependent in many ways on the other party in the relationship.

I cannot speak for others, but in my past experiences where i struggled with the loss of a relationship it became a “blame game” – I blamed myself for the relationship failures. Taking time to contemplate what the relationship taught me is a good way to evaluate the loss connection.

When you’ve invested time, energy, and have feelings invested in a relationship and it ends, there can feel like a huge loss. With that loss comes the feeling of helplessness, but turning to God and not blaming yourself for anything can be a huge help in these situations, it’s not all your fault. It takes two in a relationship, and sometimes God removes people from our lives because He sees and hears things we don’t. He’s protecting us. Trust God and His plan.

Feelings of helplessness may come after a relationship ending, because they might feel like they will forever be alone.
