In today’s society, teachers can spend more time with students than their parents do. Teachers have a profoundly important influence and must take that influence seriously. A teacher’s worldview–in everything from professional dress, to language, to attitude, to prioritization of instructional time, to homework, etc.–carries with it a set of beliefs about God, the role of Christian education, the importance of (or lack thereof) educational excellence, and the potential for each student to succeed. It is important for these areas of one’s worldview to be in line with biblical truth. An educator who says, “It’s more important for students to learn Bible than math,” sends a dangerous message. This false dichotomy pits teacher against teacher and discipline against discipline. It also tells students it’s okay to do their best in one area and potentially slack off in another.
Teachers must be aware of their educational philosophy and assumptions at all times.

We are leading them into their future with not only an education but also faith for eternity.

Because we are role models. We are molding the future with their education and their faith.

Teachers are in charge of what students learn. That in a way puts the teachers in a position to influence the minds of the children. A teacher can only give what they have. The believe of a teacher is the philosophy of a teacher and that would contribute to what is passed down to the children by the teacher. It therefore matters that the believe of the teacher is aligned with God’s perspective.

What teachers believe matters because it shapes the students’ worldview; the Bible says the student, who is fully trained, will become like his teacher.
