Well… it matters because we are raising the next generation of leaders and teachers. If we are not teaching God, and His promises of salvation, then we are not passing down a very good legacy to the future generation.

One of my favorite quotes that the professor talked about in the section was “teachers matter” When I answer this question it makes me think a lot about what she says not only do we teach the fundamentals of reading and writing science social studies… But we are also teaching our beliefs our philosophy and it is very important that through our teaching through our daily lives that we allow our Christian philosophy to be present and all that we do.

What teachers believe will manifest not only in their formal instruction, but in their attitudes and actions toward students. Students face many challenges during the time we have with them — not just academic challenges. We are the ones who are often there to walk alongside them, and we need words of truth to guide our interactionis with them.

What teachers believe matters because we impart knowledge to our students and we interact with them on a daily basis. What we say, do, and teach is always a reflection of what we believe. If we are to guide our students and teach them according to God’s word, we need to know God’s word so that what we teach aligns with what He teaches. This way we are not leading our kids astray but rather to the throne room of God.
