Teachers beliefs matter because we will instill in the student what we believe. The teacher’s beliefs will be found in every part of the school day. That is why we must continue to strive for our beliefs to be based on the scriptures.

What you believe will be seen in everything: My lessons, my interaction with the students, my discipline, and my interaction with parents. It is inseparable! Doctrine is always applicable.

Teachers affect students. Teachers communicate information and model what a Christian life is supposed to look like. A teacher has so many opportunities every day that communicate something to the students. If a teacher avoids eye contact and becomes known as the distant teacher, the student will not feel valued. If a teacher continually forgets a student’s name, that student could be tempted to feel like they don’t matter. If a teacher neglects to prepare and teach the material well, the student may not learn the truth. All of these scenarios speak to why what teachers believe is important.

It matters because we are there to guide them day by day in a setting that is comfortable and safe for them.

Teachers spend a lot of time with their students in a traditional school setting. Teachers are models that students sometimes choose to follow.
